Blairsville and Brasstown Bald

For a roughly two-day vacation over Labor Day, Mom decided we should head over to Blairsville and rent a cabin. The whole town is in the middle of nowhere, but was close to Brasstown Bald, which as this sign explains, is the highest point in Georgia. It takes forever to hike up the trail, but we all managed.

This is the observation tower on Brasstown Bald. The highest point (looking like an air traffic control tower) is used for fire lookout.

The view from the top of Brasstown Bald. Quite nice, isn't it?

Here's us standing by a rail on the observation platform (betcha can't guess where!). The clouds kinda look menacing, but it didn't rain for another hour.

I guess Mom held the camera at an angle when she took this, because it sure looks like it.

On the way back down the slalom course of mountain roads, Michael decided to stick his head out the window like a dog. He did that when we went to Blowing Rock, NC as well.
